Vital Components to Success

So for this blog post, I decided to change things up rather than doing a reading or listening to a podcast. I decided to talk about a conversation I had with one of my mentors, and hopefully help someone out there. So, for context, a while back, when I used to live in Paso Robles, I used to go to car meets and I was also interested in business. And I thought what better way than to learn from real business owners, and fortunately for me, a lot of those guys who brought there supercars and classics owned businesses. So I decided even tho I was super nervous, to talk and network with some of these guys wether through in-person interactions or just a simple comment on Instagram. From this, I met a few guys, but more specifically, a guy who owned a car shop. And I think he liked how I was not scared to try something new and was genuinely curious about business and cars. So he sorta took me under his wing, and ever since, I occasionally go on cruises and car meets that he puts on and get to have some frankly really cool experiences while learning a lot.
This weekend I met with him for a cruise, and we got to talk about personal stuff from school, family dynamics, and etc. But now that I'm getting older and the reality of adulthood is approaching, I decided to ask him some more bold and deep questions. One of them is how he managed to achieve his type of success. He told me these 2 important things, which are getting out of your comfort zone and networking. He told me about his own personal stories, he said that one of the times where he was really out of his comfort zone was when he purchased his shop, he had no past business experience and no big contacts that could help him grow. But even with these challenges he has managed to learn and grow substantially. Which now connects to networking, he told me that it's not something complex; it all starts with going up to someone and having a conversation. He has been able to meet some of his bigger clients were he works on hypercars and supercars by simply talking to them and being honest. I think these are some of the simpler things that I personally sometimes disregard, and having this conversation not only motivated me but also I think gave me a figurative compass for how I would like to lead my life.
