Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States. He is the first Black President of the United Sates and has set a precedent for constant improvement and norm breaking changes!

So I received a book from Ms. Stillitano that I ordered called A Promised Land, by Barack Obama. This is his autobiography, and as of now, I am about 30 pages in, so not a lot, but enough to explain a bit about the book. I hope to keep writing more of these to give whoever is interested some insights into who Obama is.

Barack Obama was the 44th president of the United States. He was the first ever Black American to be elected as president. His book begins with his simple beginnings, where he was raised in Hawai'i, but got to explore parts of Indonesia as his stepfather was from there. He was raised by a mother who was bold and was not scared to go after what she wanted and make a positive impact on people's lives. After he gave some vague information as to his background he moved on to his very beginnings in politics, he studied at Harvard and got his degree in law wich he used to work in small programs in communities that benefited people. But he felt complacent and like the change he was making was small. So he always kept in the back of his head the idea of running for some big government position, and he waited until one day. He got information that one of the seats for congress was open for a state that was somewhat near from him. So after talking to his Wife Michelle Obama who by the way is a very important person in the development of Obamas political career. He decided to take his shot and go for it. He started with getting signatures just to even get on the balllot wich took a while, but he got 4 times the amount that was asked because it was common that those who gave the go-ahead on the signatures would scrutinize like crazy. But he got them cleared and got his name on the ballot; it looked like a clear path ahead since one of the congresswomen gave him his word that she would not run against him. But well… she did, and she carried the votes so that really made Obama's path much less clear. But luckily, her signatures to get on the ballot were so bad that she didn't get cleared.

(That's as far as I went) As of now, we're not super far, but some things that I can reflect on are that the people who I look up to and aspire to be like, seem to have a common thing: Hasan Minhaj, Trevor Noah, and Barack Obama, they live in a weird limbo between multiple cultures, American and Indian, or American and South African. I myself live in a weird limbo between American and Mexican, and I feel that this is a superpower that not only lets you connect with so many more people, but gives you a diverse perspective that allows you to think outside of the norms because you have seen the varying perspectives of people who grew up in varying environments. Thank you for the book, Ms. Stillittano. I am really liking it!
